Recently, my wife, our two-year-old daughter, and I spent five days at Paradisus Playa del Carmen, and I can honestly say that it was one of our favorite family-friendly, all-inclusive vacations to date.
With pirate ship pools, ice cream on demand, and incredible service, this property checked every box for an upscale and fun-filled getaway. Whether you’re vacationing with toddlers, teens, or grandparents, here’s why Paradisus Playa del Carmen should be on your family travel radar.
A Modern, Stylish, and Kid-Friendly Resort
From the moment we arrived, it was clear: kids aren’t just welcome here—they’re celebrated. Ready for families with antsy children, check-in was smooth and quick and included chocolate milk for our daughter and adult beverages for us (a perfect start!).
Our Family Concierge gave us a property tour, showcasing the lush, beautifully maintained grounds and chic, Tulum-inspired decor. The vibe? Upscale, modern and stylish, yet completely kid friendly.
The resort is spacious but walkable, and we especially loved the central hub that connects the family side to the adults-only La Perla section. This open-air area—filled with lighted trees, koi ponds, lounge areas, and over-water pathways—hosts many of the resort’s restaurants and entertainment. We loved how it created a sense of community, acting as a gathering space while still giving families room to spread out and enjoy their own rhythm. During the day it was the perfect spot for an ice cream break while watching a mime juggle hats, or to feed the Koi fish. At night, lively music would play while pop-up shops and speciality desert stands lined the walls.
Family Concierge Suite Space & Benefits
We stayed in a Family Concierge Master Suite, and it was absolutely worth the upgrade. With a spacious living room, separate bedroom (perfect for post-bedtime relaxation), a small kitchen, and two full bathrooms (yes, you read that right), it’s ideal for families who value space and comfort.
Another perk? Our personal concierge. From stocking baby essentials before arrival to handling dinner reservations and snack requests via WhatsApp, they took care of everything. It’s a huge value add – nothing says vacation mode more then letting someone else handle all that stressful planning you do at home.
All-Inclusive Dining at Paradisus: Healthy Options & Kid Favorites
With 10+ on-site restaurants, the food variety exceeded our expectations. Some of our favorites:
- Blue Agave for tacos and margaritas
- Capella for oven-baked pizzas and fresh pasta
- The Lunch Box, a breakfast and lunch spot for Family Concierge guests
- Mole for creative modern Mexican cuisine
While the food was a win, dining reservations at peak times were hard to snag or adjust, even with the concierge support. For example, when we had to skip our dinner at adults-only Sal Steak Cave, we couldn’t get into family-friendly Flora, even though the restaurant was half-empty. That said, the buffet always came through with a good variety of food.
The extras that make vacation even more decadent? The 24-hour coffee bar (hello, spiked lattes!), and the ice cream stand (our daughter mastered the words ‘ice cream’ on this trip!).
Paradisus Waterpark, Family Pools & Beach Access
The family pool area is lively featuring three side-by-side pool: a small baby pool, a larger pool with a swim-up bar, and one with a pirate ship structure with kid-friendly slides that is fun for splashing, less room for swimming. A fourth, family concierge restricted pool is nearby but we didn’t like the vibe there as much as the main pools.
The pros: Food options are right nearby, making lunch convenient without dragging a wet toddler too far. There were also some quieter areas to hang in a cabana and take a break from the action.
The downsides: You must get there early to snag chairs, especially during peak hours and you can’t see the beach from the pools, which we typically enjoy.
A short walk away is the resort’s waterpark, with more thrilling water adventures for older kids and a dedicated toddler splash zone. Our daughter, a bit of a daredevil, couldn’t get enough of the slides. This area is a standout feature of Paradisus Playa del Carmen’s family-first design. Kids of all ages can spend hours here, meaning you save time, money, and stress by skipping off-site excursions.
The beach at Paradisus Playa del Carmen is accessible via wooden jungle boardwalks and offers calm, swimmable waters. Family Concierge guests have access to reserved beach seating, but spots go fast — arrive early!
Kids Club & Evening Activities at Paradisus
Let’s be honest: a vacation with kids isn’t always relaxing. That’s why kids’ clubs are gold. Paradisus offers both a Kids Club (ages 5+) and a Baby Club (ages 1–4) — a rare find in Mexico.
The staff seemed competent, and check-in included passport verification and secure pickup protocols. Drop-off is first-come, first-served so it can fill up quickly, especially after their midday closure. Unfortunately, our toddler wasn’t feeling it and chose not to stay. The space seemed a bit underwhelming for toddlers, though I’ve had clients rave about their experiences — every kid is different, and for us, it just wasn’t meant to be.
What she did love? The evening entertainment: Latin dance shows, candy land dance parties, and carnivals games. After a full day in the water and dancing the night away, bedtime a breeze.
Adults-Only Access = A Mini Escape for Parents
Even on the family side, you still get access to the adults-only areas — a game-changer to get the best of both worlds. My wife and I took turns sneaking off for solo pool time and a cocktail with top shelf alcohol, or an evening stroll. The adults-only reserve pool was a slice of serenity, especially with signs encouraging silence and soft conversations—pure magic after a day of joyful kid chaos.
Final Verdict: Is Paradisus Playa del Carmen Worth It for Families?
Absolutely. This is one of the best premium family-friendly all-inclusive resorts in Mexico that delivers elevated comfort without the luxury price tag. The Family Concierge option was a game-changer, the room was spacious and modern, the food exceeded expectations, and the variety of kid activities kept our daughter happy and engaged.
